Jacob Rides High to Church

Jacob Arriving at the Church

Jacob Thomas was at church last Sunday for the worship service and stayed on for the church’s Mother’s Day lunch.  It was great to see Jacob and have fellowship with him.

Apart from being Mother’s Day, it was also very special because for the very first time, Jacob came to church riding high in a very special vehicle – the Mobiliti Van.

The Mobiliti Van is equipped with an electrical lift at the back of the van which allows for someone in a wheelchair to be lifted into the van easily while still remaining in the wheelchair.  This eliminates the usual difficulties faced in trying to get into and out of a normal car.

The Mobiliti Van can carry up to three wheelchairs at a time and is run by a non-profit organisation, Persatuan Mobiliti Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.  This organisation was established in 2001 to help provide a door-to-door transport service within the Klang Valley for the disabled.

Although, one of the main purposes is to help the disabled reach hospitals or medical centres for their medical treatments, Mobiliti provides the service for any reason such as visiting friends, going shopping or even going to church.

Jacob gives the experience of riding the van and the service provided two thumbs up.  The driver, Mawi, was courteous, efficient and reassuring.  He also commented that he was very impressed how Christians take the trouble to look out for those with disabilities and made the effort to include them in their church activities, stating that he has brought a number of clients to different churches.

Well, Mawi, thank you for your gracious words and our thanks to you and Mobiliti for taking on this important and impactful task and providing this vital service to the community..

Riding High and in Comfort

If any of you know of anyone who may have need of the services of the Mobiliti Vans, they can be contacted as follows:

Phone: +603-7957 7255/ 7957 7266
Email Address: mobiliti@po.jaring.my

They require a booking to be made 4 days before the van is needed and they will confirm 1-2 days before based on availability of vans and drivers.  A charge of  RM 5 per trip (i.e. RM 10 return trip) is levied for trips within normal working hours.  A surcharge is added on for trips outside working hours, weekends and holidays.

Psalm 41: 1 says “Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.”

Matthew 25: 37-40; The Lord Jesus says, “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Therefore, may we be encouraged to remember our brothers and sisters who are not well and are unable to fellowship with us on a regular basis and to pray for them, visit them, fellowship with them and minister to them as much as we are able.
